Geordin Hill-Lewis Plus the car was parking on the pavement illegally. This is a common problem across our city which negatively impact everyone such as mothers, children, disabled and the elderly. We need tougher punishments for the vehicles across the board and a new way to report them.

This is not development. Rather the opposite. Public transportation is development and progress. We are not in the 1960’s.

Gary Kennedy LJ Young Urbanists South Africa Active Mobility Forum It is semi protected. Whilst construction is still on-going. We will cover 40% of the lane with protected barriers. The biggest win from this pilot is that it shows how the private sector fund this & this standard will be used by the City of Cape Town for cycling lanes going forward.

Good to see City of Cape Town and Geordin Hill-Lewis are taking protected bike lanes seriously in the centre of Cape Town on Bree Street. Hope there are more to come!

The City of Poznan took a leafy street and made it greener, removing all lanes of car traffic and adding bike lanes and plantings.

Great to see the ongoing implementation of the Abu Dhabi Urban Street Design Manual in Al Ain: ✅ Raised cycle tracks ✅ Raised intersections to calm traffic at neighbourhood gateways ✅ Right turn pockets with 30° offsets and tabletop crossings

Unprotected bike lanes aren't compatible with traffic in 2025.

This could be called a ‘soft street closure’. All the residents of Sydney Rd in Rosebank cordoned off this short road for a safe, fun-filled space for the local kids to play. A Youth Day filled with street soccer, hoolahooping, skateboarding, and coffee for the adults 🇿🇦 All

We took a ride through Addis Ababa to see how the city’s new cycle tracks are taking shape. Here’s what we found 👉

This is progress. Travel lane removed and given to a cycle lane and bus stop ✅ More to be done to connect and improve the cycle lane but it has to start somewhere.

This building brings in more revenue than all of suburban Pinelands, while requiring -400x to 500 x fewer roads -700x to 800x less land This is why more density (even just a little) can mean more money for services, public transport (trains, trams, buses), parks, sewers, etc.

George CBD is safe, clean and well maintained. Yet, it's one the most unpleasant CBDs I have been to in the Western Cape Car centric, unwalkable and basically just a big, noisy parking lot.
