I have a new story in the 100th issue of AGNI is on Bluesky (@agnimagazine.bsky.social). It’s called “Signs of Fatigue”, and I felt sad/happy/scared/proud while writing it. Copies are available here: agnionline.bu.edu

It’s pub day for The Best American Short Stories! It’s a Halloween miracle! 🎃 Lauren Groff and @HeidiPitlor put together an incredible collection—weird and wonderful. I’m honored “Democracy in America” made the cut (alongside so many of my literary favs)!

Some news to start the day! My first foray into non-fiction will involve spending an inordinate amount of time with a film I grew up spending an inordinate amount of time with… Thanks to Bloomsbury U.S. and Nic Rombes!

It's been so nice to see the orders come in! I'm signing books & sending gifts, & I'll be doing it all holiday season! Order any of my books from local indie The Booksmith, & I'll sign them for you & gift you a copy of THE INVENTION OF MOREL. Just ask for Morel on the order sheet!

For one more week, order any Winnette titles from my local indie shop The Booksmith's website, and I'll sign the books and even send along a gift (on me) of personal fave book (and big influence on USERS): THE INVENTION OF MOREL. booksmith.com/search/site/co…

This Thursday (1/9) at Green Apple Books on the Park, I’ll be reading from the Long Day Press re-issue of my early novel GAINESVILLE with Tyler Cain Lacy, who will read from his new book IN MEMORY OF JAMES WRIGHT, WHOSE POEM I ATE. Come through!

Bay Area pals! Next Thursday (2/6) at 7pm, I'm appearing at Green Apple Books (9th ave) to discuss Corinna Vallianatos' BRILLIANT new collection ORIGIN STORIES (Graywolf Press). I love these mercurial stories, and I can't wait to discuss them. Join us! tinyurl.com/mu5see7m
