Open Science (OS) affects all stages of the research lifecycle. The original goals of the CIDR conferences are in tune with the OS philosophy for scholarly communication. My invited talk at CIDR2025 was a quick tour of OS and outlined some of the relevant Association for Computing Machinery efforts.

Technology policy is an urgent priority. New co-chairs Virginia Dignum Parody and Jeanna Matthews also @[email protected] lead the Association for Computing Machinery Tech Policy Council with a fresh new vision and plans for exciting activities to support/advise policy makers and inform the computing community on policy matters.


Congratulations to Ashish Sharma (and the two honorable mentions)! Interdisciplinary Computing/AI represents an emerging focal point for the work of Association for Computing Machinery, with great potential for exciting research whose breakthrough results will benefit all!










Last week, Association for Computing Machinery Council reaffirmed its intention to open access to all ACM publications and related research artifacts in the ACM DL after 1-1-2026. ACM demonstrates its commitment to democratization of knowledge, transparency, and accountability. #OpenAccess #ACMOpen

Large audience watched Association for Computing Machinery's panel on "Smart Technology, Fair Finance–The Promise and Risks of AI for Sustainable Development" at United Nations #FFD4. Computing scientists, economists, and politicians exchanged innovative ideas on financing the road to #SDGs by using #ai4good.


At #LINO25, 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings (#Chemistry), I met John Jumper, 2024 #NobelPrize for AI-driven protein structure prediction in AlphaFold2, Frances Arnold, other Nobel Laureates, and Association for Computing Machinery #Turing Laureate @JackDongarra. #AI+#Computing+#Science leads to wonders!
