'Blank face observations' reminiscent of Tronick's 'still face experiment' -the lack of response causing babies to become angry, confused, care-seekin and near catatonic before giving up. There are effects even from one go that can be picked up in stress response months later.

Yesterday I had an assessment with a DBT unit called Hope House run by Elysium Healthcare (Yes I’m naming and shaming them).
I’d like to highlight 2 practices they openly brag about within their treatment for women with β€˜EUPD’.

1) behavioural incentive pathway
2) blank face 1:1…

Hot take: There are exceptions, but most therapists don't have the necessary range of experience to train as a supervisor after 2 years of practice. The idea of nobody with more than 2 years of practice experience having their eyes on a piece of therapy work frankly terrifies me.

Schools and teachers if there are children getting 20 plus detention per half term are the children really the problem?

1982. Nineteen eighty two. And there are still people who will say say with their whole chest that if you were diagnosed as a child, that's inherently a privilege.

This is precisely why therapists taking *any* absolutist stance on diagnosis/disorders/meds etc is harmful for clients. Respect clients.

Brilliant. Well done GenderGP. Consideration of ethics notably absent from Cass. Unlike forthcoming German, Swiss and Austrian guidelines, where they are centre stage.

Wow! NHS England BANNED trans people from being part of the decision-making process for their own healthcare during Cass - but DID listen to conversion therapists. NHS England - this is a farce.

Have @NCPScounselling said anything about their talks with UKCP yet? It's been several days since UKCP claimed they are involved in this move, and trans clients and therapists deserve answers.

. Philippa Willitts: writer, editor, journo powerfully articulating why UKCP's withdrawal from the agreement on conversion therapy is so harmful for clients. Thank you Philippa πŸ‘

As an autistic person, I easily score a 6. This tool is terrifying & I can’t imagine it ever passing any form of validity check. But I guess it’s more cost effective to slap a PD label on neurodivergent & traumatised folk & then exclude them from services.
