Am blown away by how this paper illustrates Sandra Swart discussion of the historical phenomenon of animal cultures. Absolutely amazing to see this playing out in real time, thank you, @monica_vasile !

The crisis at the heart of the Conservative party spectator.co.uk/article/the-cr… via The Spectator I wouldn’t have expected this perspective in the Spectator, but blimey, this is right on the money

My new role - which really does call on both veterinary knowledge and historian skills! “What is canine health research?”, for example: not always as straightforward to decide as it might seem… UKVetHumanities

Useful publicity for the issues around brachycephalic health, with a cameo on bulldog health history from me, around 3:50 youtu.be/R5Vt-xhso0Y

Pleased to have had the opportunity to be a coauthor on this paper, which largely confirms previous understanding of Boxer health - some breed related problems, some problems common in all breeds, fewer brachy related issues than in more extreme brachy breeds. Thanks Dan O’Neill

Registration for #AHG23 is open! See website for programme details. Lots of variety; I’m speaking on the history of canine breed registers and why it matters.

Many vets get upset when dogs with extreme features (Dachshunds with very long backs, French Bulldogs with very flat faces) win at Crufts. How have we ended up here? What work is being done to improve the health of pedigree dogs? #VetTwitter Listen here⬇️ podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/veter…

Thanks to funders Battersea Dogs Trust 💛🐶 The Kennel Club Charitable Trust Waltham Petcare Science Institute Foundation and to all who shared data with us!

Such a great study by my current colleagues, I’m so pleased this has been published! Really interesting evidence to help us reflect on the difference between what we know and what we assume with canine health and breed-related disease.
