5 weeks until i return to work after having my little boy. I think this is the perfect time to be reading this Dr Sam Akbar (and also on the train to a bottomless brunch with friends ๐Ÿ˜)

Early palliative care interventions make sense. Why wait until late-stage disease to prioritise comfort & function as well as recovery? Have we frightened ourselves out of referring patients because of our own gatekeeping? 'S/he's not palliative yet...' is an enemy of good care.

As palliative care physicians, we never - ever - give up on our patients. Every day of life is precious, right until the end. And we work tirelessly, intensively, to ensure every day is as full of life, meaning and dignity as is humanly possible. x.com/bbcbreakfast/sโ€ฆ
