I have been keeping track since I noticed in 1995, and AAAF has kept detailed counts since 2003 or so (heroic field work). Here is a graph I submitted in a paper a while back. Weather does not affect it the way it affects the trends farther south.

Here’s a grasshopper observation for you. It’s the third time I’ve seen this. Kochia patches that were green last fall have high populations of baby grasshoppers right now.
