Significant wins for the future of the WA economy here. CCIWA first floated in its Green Web report the idea of requiring the EPA to issue a statement of intent. Now it’s government policy. thewest.com.au/news/wa/premie…

Very glad to welcome the State Government’s reforms to environmental approvals today. Now attention turns to the Federal Government’s Nature Positive agenda; now firmly out of step with the policies and ambitions of our great state.

Jobs data out today. While the WA labour market is still tight by historical standards, there are now genuine signs of a loosening. The unemployment rate ticked up, hours worked decreased, and there was a swing from full-time to part-time. None of this of course unexpected.

Great to share a conversation with Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti at today's CCIWA Business Breakfast. The government's policy agenda is pointing in the right direction. CCIWA looks forward to continuing to work constructively with the government on the issues that matter.

Great to catch up with Treasurer Jim Chalmers to discuss the GST deal and other issues related to the growth and diversification of the WA economy.

WA's economy refuses to peak. Indeed, national accounts data out today shows we are growing fastest in the nation, at a 5.5% annual clip.

The Victorian Government is outraged it subsidises South Australia via the GST system. It appears they have unwittingly aligned themselves with Western Australia on GST distribution policy. theaustralian.com.au/nation/politic…

It’s not a windfall at all - WA is just subsidising other states by a smaller amount. Time for other states to crack on and develop their economies like WA has. theaustralian.com.au/nation/politic…

Blocking an extension to the North West Shelf project would undermine the community of Karratha, damage small and family businesses, and compromise Asia's ability to generate the energy needed for its growing populations. Common sense must be applied. theaustralian.com.au/nation/politic…

Great to join forces with other industry groups today, calling for the burden of payroll tax to be lowered on WA small & family businesses. Its unfair WA businesses pay the highest payroll tax in the country. There is an easy fix, and we call on the state govt to provide relief.

CCIWA has consistently highlighted the potential risks to WA's economy of the Federal Government's 'Nature Positive' reforms. Aaron Morey told Laura Tingle on abc730, concerns remain despite positive signs the Government is listening to industry. More: cciwa.com/business-pulse…

New report from ⁦⁦Saul Eslake⁩ finds Tasmania’s budget woes are “entirely the result of conscious decisions to increase spending and cut taxes”. Rather than looking for quick fixes like a GST grab, Tassie would be better off sorting their own mess. afr.com/policy/economy…

After reviewing today's national accounts release, there is no doubting that Western Australia is the strongest economy in the nation. Despite this record activity however, small business profits are almost non-existent and require urgent policy support.

Western Australia must develop its onshore gas resources if it is to have any hope of diversifying its economy for future generations. theaustralian.com.au/nation/activis…

Even without a climate trigger, the Nature Positive Bill would do great damage to the WA economy. It will frustrate efforts to build houses, develop mines, and transition to renewable energy. The Bill must not pass - full stop. thewest.com.au/politics/feder…

Below is a live update from our Energy Operator. Natural gas is generating more than half our electricity. Not only is this fuel central to our decarbonisation and diversification efforts, it is providing critical and affordable comfort to society's most vulnerable.
