Wow. At yesterday’s Council hearing, no-show Council Member Shahana Hanif phoned it in & asked “What am I voting on?” Lincoln Restler directs: “Just say yes.” She votes yes w/out question & didn’t even realize she was voting on her own bill. 🤦‍♀️Hanif: a no show for the job & her constituents

went to a bread store in europe and asked for fermented sourdough bread thinking it was something unique and special… They told me every single one was fermented and only made with water, salt, flour, sourdough yeast and a little olive oil This is what real bread should be —

Tonight the Democratic primary ended. Now, our campaign begins. I earned a spot on the general election ballot—not with party deals, but with over 24,000 signatures from real New Yorkers. Independent. Honest. The Real Deal. #JimWalden #NYC2025 #IndependentVoice #FixNYC

The Cuomo model --- massive cash advantage to blanket the TV airwaves, rely on your institutional support from unions to get voters out to the polls --- appears to have broken down. It's a model suited to a statewide race or perhaps several election cycles ago.

Another piece of the NYC D Mayoral Primary picture is relative turnout vs 2021. Unsurprisingly, it was up compared to the FINAL 21 total mayoral first preferences in progressive rich white areas (green), and down in many African-American majority areas (purple). Patrick Ruffini

Late night map of the unofficial 2025 NYC Mayoral Primary (first oreference) result by NYC City Council District. Despite losing the race, Andrew Cuomo won 29 of the 51 CCDs to Zohran Mamdani's 22. Turnout differential was key to Mamdani's victory.

New York City is now facing its third major flooding event in four years. We’re going to have to seriously rethink our city’s infrastructure in the years ahead if we want to mitigate the impacts in the future — and most importantly, we need to act FAST. nytimes.com/2025/07/14/wea…

I honestly don’t understand why Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani wants to change when New Yorkers vote. I fear that moving to even-number years will take attention away from local issues and will advantage candidates with wealth or fame. I urge all New Yorkers to vote NO on Ballot Proposal 6.

It’s crazy that the new NYC subway cars only have 30 seats and the old ones have 80 and we are in any way supposed to consider this an improvement. Me must return…
