Religion has been a strong encourager of child abuse (both mental and physical) for thousands of years. This is why science and humanism are so important today. There's a better way to live, my friends. Embrace enlightenment. Embrace progress. Embrace reason.

That's the problem with religion. It's not people focused. It's "soul" focused. It's obsessed with a hell and a heaven which most likely doesn't exist. It's obsessed with "the kingdom of god" rather than here-and-now human wellbeing. There's a better way. It's called humanism.
