Presenting at the #AZTLI2022 was incredible and has filled me with so much hope for the profession. We have everything we need in our communities and school buildings. We only need to expand or affirm our ways of being and knowing as we center voices from the margins.⁣

Don't mistake assertiveness for aggression. Being assertive is advocating for your interests. Being aggressive is attacking other people's interests. Standing up for your ideals doesn't make you pushy—it stops you from being a pushover. It's not selfish—it's self-preservation.

I can’t quite explain what I’m feeling. 17 years of a bell schedule and now the bells no longer structure my day. This is a big change. The sense of urgency, decisions, meeting student needs from bell to bell was intense. I didn’t realize how much this affected me. Anyone else?
