Looking for recommendations of works on queens’ or royal womens’ households. Anything published since 2016 extra appreciated :) #twitterstorians #queenship

Feeling rather grumpy about the cost of Brill books today. Great book I need to read, not in NLS can’t get it through inter library loan, won’t pay £148 for a copy 🙈

Hello Scots historians. Can anyone tell me what “Brasei” is in Latin, Scot’s or the wierd mash up of the two the the ER has. I have 9 bolls of brasei and I KNOW I’ve previously looked this up and lost the notes🙈

Bloody Latin. Anyone come across the term “carcosiis” relating to sheep and cows eg 88 carcosiis multonibus. I thought it related to carcurra for plough but I don’t see any sheep ploughing medieval fields…. 🐑 🐄 🐂

Live scenes of me trying to write a to-the-point chapter section and getting lost in the intricacies of the Scottish Exchequer Rolls instead…translation of “per dietas in papers computantis” anyone? Paper accounts? Receipts?! 🤪

Hello lovely #twitterstorians. Does anyone have a copy of M Beer “Translating a queen: material culture and the creation of Margaret Tudor as Q of Scots”. It’s in Netherton, Medieval Clothing and Textiles 2014

Watching “You” s4 and absolutely the most unrealistic thing in any season so far is Joe‘s mystery academic job that pays a decent London wage when he has no publications

Excited to watch the queen being crowned, entirely so I can say “eee that’s not how they did it in medieval Scotland”

I don’t suppose any kind soul on the Twitter sphere specialises in medieval French and fancies translating a chronicle entry for me do they? It’s about 6 (relatively small) pages long 😬

I’m giving a talk on Mary of Guelders for Haddington History Society on the 19th October if anyone is at a loose end 👑 haddingtonshistory.org.uk/2023/04/progra…

Hello #scottishhistorians #twitterstorians can anyone point me to reading on the property rights of married and widowed women in medieval Scotland? Especially elite women?

Happy Edinburgh Fringe. Found out I share both the complete terror of lightening AND the determination to carefully listen to ALL of the instructions given by flight attendants in case I am cast adrift in the Atlantic with only my whistle for safety with Mark Watson, still here but very much also Bluesky
