Happy way to finish the year with this paper now out in DaltonTransactions on our fused pyrazole project. A huge amount of hard work from Keele Chemistry & Medicinal Chemistry student Amelia Amelia Swarbrook on her RSC summer bursary, building on MChem work from Rohan (18-19) and Jack (19-20) dx.doi.org/10.1039/D1DT04…

None of this would have been possible though without the inspirational and all-out amazing Valentyna 🇺🇦 👏🏻 who spearheaded this campaign. You are a credit to our department, Vali, but most importantly you're a credit to your home country of Ukraine. We're very proud of you 2/n

Last week, we had a seminar from our students who were awarded summer research bursaries in our school this year. The topics ranged from chemical biology to graphene, and were of the highest quality! Well done all!

Our MChems are at the business end of their projects now. Amelia has been spending her morning doing column chromatography to workup her latest reaction and saw this lovely colour separation. Certainly makes the TLC a bit easier!

Our MChem/MRes students also presented their research in the poster sessions, with Samantha Oliver and Amelia Swarbrook winning prizes for theirs. Theo Gazis also won an award for the best oral presentation. Well done everyone for a fantastic day!

Today was one of two OxICFM field trip to Johnson Matthey! It was very interesting to hear about how advanced technologies like ML and Robotics are being applied to the chemical industry and see the advanced characterisation facilities! #OxICFM #chemistsontour
