Medicine focuses a lot on the question “will this help my patient” but not on the question “when will it help my patient.” The latter becomes important as we age. We’ve developed a “time-to-benefit” tool on eprognosis.ucsf.edu to help answer this question. #FOAMed #meded

Congrats to Brittany Krzyzanowski PhD & her collaborators on their recent paper in JAMA Network Open. Their population-based case-control study adds to the growing body of evidence linking exposure to environmental toxins to #Parkinsonsdisease risk. Read the paper at bar.rw/pollutionpd2024.

I recently had the pleasure of joining Dr. Therese Markow on the Critically Speaking Podcast @CritiSpeak to discuss all-things-Parkinson’s disease. We explored the genetic and environmental factors behind Parkinson’s. Why cases are increasing and regional variations. Treatments

14 years ago today I was diagnosed with #Parkinsons I thought my life was over, it wasn’t! Everyday my symptoms get a bit worse… But, I can still walk, I can still talk and I can still belt out an 80s classic ( when the meds are working)…. Love my life x

I strongly recommend this remarkable book of Letters for those who are struggling in their chosen career of medicine. It may be one of the last collections of epistolary exchanges by a well known writer Brain Masud Husain Oliver Sacks Fdn. academic.oup.com/brain/article-…
