#OTD in 1941, Lou Gehrig lost his battle with ALS, passing away at the age of 38. He had been diagnosed at the Mayo Clinic less than two years prior, and unfortunately ever since, the disease has overshadowed his incredible career. Here’s my painting depicting him in 1939.

Today is 5th Annual #LouGehrigDay across MLB. For a refresher on how it came to be, please watch the below by Outside the Lines . Chuck H, Phil Green , Adam Wilson (RIP) and B Wayne Galentine (RIP) are featured but it was the work of 100s inspired by 1000s who made today happen.

To celebrate Lou Gehrig Day, the #Royals honored their friend Sarah Nauser. She thought she was going on the field to honor Bobby Witt Jr. and raise awareness for ALS. The team had much more in store for her: mlb.com/news/bobby-wit…

The Weight He Carried: How One Rare Dad Turned Heartbreak into Horsepower w/ Jeff Allen I cried when I first interviewed Jeff. To be honest, I expected a polished media chat - maybe even a PR rep listening in, which usually takes some of the magic out of it. He’d just won $10

#OTD in 1964, Sandy Koufax threw his third no-hitter in three years, blanking the Phillies 3-0 at Connie Mack Stadium. Here’s my painting of him dealing in the 8th inning, based off of the photography of the great Walter Iooss. LOVE wrestling with these lit scoreboards!!!

Before I AM ALS, federal funding for ALS research was flat year over year. But since 2019, we have helped increase federal funding for ALS research by over 100x. Keep this momentum going: tell your elected officials to keep ALS at the top of the agenda. bit.ly/3F1TS8c
