Montessori programs for children ages 0-6 are radical:

> Babies sleep in floor beds, not cribs
> Toddlers use knives and prepare meals
> Preschoolers predominantly work alone

Why? It has everything to do with the child's nature & needs in the 'First Plane of Development':
