Today, on Jan 26, I acknowledge the Bundjalung & Gidhabal people who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live. I pay my respects to their elders past, present and future, and acknowledge Aboriginal peoples are hurting and mourning on this day.

I acknowledge that Aboriginal peoples have a strong spirit of survival, having survived for over 60,000 years. Australia has a rich and diverse culture today that is worth acknowledging and celebrating. We are a distinct nation with a land, history and people that are unique.

There is much to be grateful for, identifying as an Australian and living in this land, but there is a need to acknowledge how we came to be here. #ChangeTheDate #TheresNoPrideInGenocide #17TimesMoreLikelyToBeIncarcerated #CookHadAMandateToMakeATreaty

Experience is unique, as is identity. As parents we can be close to our child's disability identity, but we are adjacent. We will never experience their disability. Be an ally to your child, don't usurp their identity. Pic credit Jennifer

Very grateful to present again today at the #AARE2022 conference. It's a great time to be a PhD student at University of Southern Queensland with support from amazing supervisors like Ellen Larsen

So, I'm starting to notice that Panopto automatically censors captions. When my participants swear, Panotpto captions it is as [INAUDIBLE]. When trying to capture the depth of emotion and impact of experiences, this kind of censorship doesn't help.

At best it's just a misuse of public funds, at worst it is creating life-long damage among some of our most vulnerable students smh.com.au/education/expe…

A term that is commonly used and needs updating is ‘attention-seeking’. I’ve seen some respectful alternatives like ‘connection-needing’. What is your favorite way to update this term? #Interoception #Support #OccupationalTherapy #SchoolOT #Autism #LivedExperience #WordsMatter

A Year 1 Phonics Screener could be used as a standardised measure, much like NAPLAN. Waiting until Year 3 means that time is being lost for valuable early intervention. x.com/FIVEfromFIVE/s…

I've entered the 3 Minute Thesis Competition 2023. Please click on this link and like my video. If I can win the People's Choice Award, I think it would speak volumes to the power of parental allyship, and help me to further our cause! youtube.com/watch?v=brAxQI…

An excellent overview by Ellen Larsen of some of the complexities faced by pre-service teachers who take on teaching roles prior to the completion of their degree. #AARE2023 #InitialTeacherEducation
