A stunning looking Ichneumon wasp in the garden yesterday - a female Hepiopelmus variegatorius (lovely Latin name!). Only our 2nd ever and appears to be very few records nationwide - probably due to under recording.

Haven't seen an Ivy bee for some weeks here although we have masses of Ivy which is literally humming with insects. Found this one late yesterday on Verbena bonariensis & don't think they can reach the nectar so moved it to Ivy & it lapped it up!

There's something special about a weevil. This is one of the species that likes Figwort - Cionus tuberculosus. Found half a dozen in the garden yesterday - only a few records for Northants but probably well under recorded.
