Preparing large GHZ states have long been a test of hardware capabilities. Using the IBM's Heron QPU the team recently showed that 120 logical qubits can be entangled in a GHZ state - a new world record. Work done by Ali Javadi and Simon Martiel.

awards.acm.org/about/2024-tur… Machines that learn from experience were explored by Alan Turing almost eighty years ago, which makes it particularly gratifying and humbling to receive an award in his name for reviving this essential but still nascent idea.

Our teams new work using AI for quantum circuit transpilation Is even better. The team has extended their earlier work on RL-based synthesis of Clifford circuits to general Pauli Networks. arxiv.org/abs/2503.14448

Bringing our first Heron R3 QPU online: ibm_pittsburgh, inside an IBM Quantum System Two in Poughkeepsie, NY. R3 isn’t a redesign—it’s precision refinement. And it shows: • T1: 300 µs • T2: 370 µs • 2Q gate error: ~5×10⁻⁴ (our best yet) • Layered gate error 100Q: 3.2×10⁻³

Yesterday I returned to my alma mater, Universidad de Salamanca, to share my PhD journey with current doctoral students. Encouraged them to make the most of this adventure in preparation for what’s next! Thanks to Universidad de Salamanca and Escuela de Doctorado for the invitation 🎓 #PhD #mentorship #research
