On the anniversary of the worst day of my life I celebrate the memory of my dear friend Nina Patrice Bell who was on the 110th floor of tower one at 8:46am. She was a sweet soul and a beautiful and talented person, thank you for your friendship Nina #RIP

This is interesting, been a registered voter in this town my whole life, first time I ever got a poll worker solicitation. Didn’t think there would be an issue here in the city, but here we are.

Man, I’m glad I grew up in an era where music and entertainment was good, having a hard time seeing the value in this halftime show

One of my most endearing memories is standing side stage in the Apollo Theater listening to Roberta Flack do her show. I wished well before she went on stage, then she left me breathless, such an incredible voice now seared into my brain forever. #RIP

One of my favorite movies just came on, Hi-De-Ho from 1934 I hate saying an artist was ahead of his time, but Cab set a standard that is still emulated. The big three from that period were Billy Eckstine, Count Basie, and Cab. youtu.be/spBLdH5mtyk?si…

Love the old movies, watching ‘Screaming Mimi’ which is a dandy. Anita Ekberg was a straight up fox. Also features vibraphonist Red Norvo and his band. Not sure who the guitar player is, Jimmy Rainey replaced Tal Farlow in 1954.

Happy Birthday to the greatest bass player, nothing he can’t do, nothing he didn’t do. Here is Ron Carter with his long time friend and collaborator George Benson, absolutely brilliant. Ron Carter youtu.be/sf7FY1R5ig8?si…

Pretty cool, I’m watching a 1961 episode of Perry Mason called ‘The Case. Of The Missing Melody’ and sure enough, there’s Barney Kessel playing in the band in a nightclub scene. I think that’s Shelly Mann on drums
