Sources indicate Australia has been through 20 and 30 year megadroughts before European settlement. Why shouldn't the US be susceptible to such events?

Unlikely. Affordability (purchase and running) often dictates automobile size. As EV running costs are generally lower and not taxed like fuel excise, people will buy bigger and manufacturers supply demand.

Actual measurements for the last 25 years show reduced cloud cover explains all of the observed warming, and has nothing to do with CO2. Correlation ≠ Causation

My instinct is that with more energy being stored in the ocean waters that these currents would be enhanced, if anything. If it isn't solar energy that drives them, what does?

The last drought here lasted 6 months. 45,000 litres of storage was enough for us. Cost today is about $7,500. That in electricity storage would barely last a day.

And re your previous post about water storage, a 45,000 litre home water tank should last many times longer (maybe 10?) than a home battery for storing renewables generated electricity, and cost a lot less.
