👀 Sneak preview of the @skynews studio for election night. It's pretty cool. We've taken over the Sky Sports Premier League MNF studio and we'll be filling it with election graphics. Here's a little sequence about the exit poll and why it's quite a big deal 👇

And here's a smoothed vote share-by-age graph. Crossover point (Lab 1st to Cons 1st) is age 65. Only the LDs appeal about the same rate across all age groups. Green is second choice all the way up to late 20s. Reform really not a thing for young people, at least in our data.

Voting is well underway in the UK #GeneralElection24. A massive thank you to all #localgov electoral staff for the incredible amount of work that has gone on behind the scenes over the last few weeks and in the hours to come. AEA

I do think there’s something simple-but-overlooked here: 34% is a low winning vote share in a 2.5-party system. Not so much in a 3.5-4 party system.

I think this is quite interesting. The left panel shows how much of an outlier the Labour result in the 2024 election was, not just compared with earlier UK but all FPTP elections. The right panel shows how much more the result resembles the FPTP element of MMP systems. 🧵

Really pleased to have contributed to this volume alongside a host of excellent colleagues. With such a quick turnaround, the report provides lots of thought provoking analysis on the election we’ve just experienced — a great resource for reading lists too.
