The cold weather is over. Thermometer is back up to 4 deg C but it was 10 degrees colder on Rannoch Moor on Friday where we spent two hours in the snow and never even noticed the temp. Some ice art from Lochan na h-Achlaise. #elementsphotomag #outdoorphotographymagazine

We just arrived at Rannoch Moor in time, held up by the windscreen washers freezing on the motorway, forcing us to stop. This was the first photo I took in the scramble to catch that morning light and it’s maybe my favourite of the day. #fsprintmonday #elementsphotomag

All iced up. A bit like our windscreen on the M9 the other day. Or it could be a drone shot of the ocean? Does it even matter? And I couldn’t decide between square or landscape. But I think that matters even less. #appicoftheweek #elementsphotomag #outdoorphotographymagazine

More from the frozen north. It’s now 10 degrees C here in Edinburgh, 16 degrees change in a few days just doesn’t feel right.

Once the sun was fully up at Rannoch and the light was too harsh for wider landscapes, I concentrated on the abstracts and enjoyed making this little collection. #photography #abstract #photographers #nikon #scotland #appicoftheweek #elementsphotomag #outdoorphotographymagazine

Another one from up at Rannoch the other week, when winter was actually winter. #appicoftheweek #elementsphotomag #outdoorphotographymagazine

Barns Ness shipwreck. Well it gets called a shipwreck but apparently it was an old barge that was used for target practice by the navy in WW2. They seemed to have done a decent job as not much remains. #fsprintmonday #appicoftheweek #elementsphotomag #outdoorphotographymagazine

I’ve never seen Holy Isle so quiet yesterday. Instead of the sound of tourist chatter and dogs barking you could hear curlews and oystercatchers in the bay. A lovely early morning with some beautiful gentle light on the rocks. #elementsphotomag #outdoorphotographymagazine

Blue hour at Bamburgh. I could also have called it “false dawn” as the anticipation created by that slither of light dragged me down to the beach in excitement, only for nothing to happen.

Back at my favourite boat earlier this week. It’s the sharp lines of the hull and the lovely aqua colours that pulled me back for another look. #appicoftheweek #elementsphotomag #outdoorphotographymagazine

High and Dry. A wander down to Port Seton and Cockenzie harbours wasn’t so fruitful from the photography perspective. But I did get this mono shot and liked the minimal look. #appicoftheweek #elementsphotomag #outdoorphotographymagazine

A wee series I did at Húsar Church on Kalsoy, while waiting for the ferry home. Do look closely at the door handle, it’s quite beautiful. #appicoftheweek #elementsphotomag #outdoorphotographymagazine

Finally got back to editing the Streymoy folder from my Faroes trip and some black and whites seemed to bring out the textures in these. These more intimate rural shots contrasted nicely with the big dramatic ones I’ve posted before.
