What an interesting talk! We learned a lot from Gerlinde Metz from the University of Lethbridge about the sex-specific effects of multigenerational maternal stress on the offspring, such as the shift in the hemispheric dominance in males. 🧠

In his talk Markus Hausmann argued that a biopsychosocial model needs to be applied to research of sex/gender differences in neuroscience for more reliability and insight into the mechanisms underying the differences.

female_brain Affective Functioning, Hormones and the Brain Markus Hausmann Such interesting data and insight on sex differences in mental rotation, testosterone and self-efficacy!

The second day of the female brain symposium starts soon! The first part will be on "Sex & Mechanisms" and the second part on "Women & Gender" 🧠 Feel free to join! female_brain Uniklinikum Tübingen

Join Dr. Liisa Galea, myself and a number of other great speakers today at the female_brain symposium!

In her talk Kristina Herfert argues that molecular and functional imaging in rodents can contribute to understanding sex differences in the brain, especially when it comes to disorders affecting the brain as males and females might have different protective/vulnerability mechanisms.

According to Wendy Koss, sex differences appear in every Alzheimer disease (AD) aminal models. However, the pharmaceutical treatments have not yet addressed these differences. In AD entire hormonal milleu and intracellular mechanisms in males and females need to be addressed.

Our last session on „Sex and Gender“ starts with Dr. Claudia Barth (@nifti12.bsky.social) presenting data on sex hormones in the female brain across the life span

female_brain So much sex (and gender)! Thank you for an excellent workshop with brilliant minds. I took notes like a grad student! So enjoyable. ♥️

Thank you so much to female_brain for this amazing opportunity to connect with some of most brilliant researchers studying sex and gender in the brain!
