‘Tis the night before the launch of #Fledgling, and I thought I’d take this opportunity to say thank you to all the wonderful people who have supported me on my journey from the first spark of an idea through to Fledgling's arrival in the world as a beautiful book.

Honestly, so disappointed at media. The Amazonian youth from Brazil and Ecuador lead the entire march today in Glasgow and were up on the main stage for almost 30 minutes. Frontline people at the FRONT LINE. Yet no coverage. This is what invisiblization looks like. #COP26

Instead of mandatory vaccines for those of us who already wear masks 100% of the time at work, what about early boosters for teachers who work in schools where they have no protection? Or, you know, what about mandatory masks for everyone in public places? bbc.co.uk/news/health-59…

Which is great news, but this does make the movement of the Swift to the Red list pretty horrific. How can the Swift be more at risk than the WTE?! I assume it's due to the rate of decline. Terrifying and depressing.

⚠ Please do not follow advice telling you to feed leftover cooking fat to birds. The grease from cooking fat can damage the waterproofing qualities of their feathers. Instead stick to pure fats like lard and suet to give birds the nutrients to survive the cold winter months

If you are feeling run over or run down, perhaps you can take courage from the sheer resilience of even the tiniest little plants. Sometimes we can't choose where we are and what is happening to us, but we can choose to make the best of what we have.

Today's mini-🧵is about a bird that's more common in Scotland, Wales, north England and the south-west than it is in the south/south-east. It's the DIPPER, Cinclus cinclus. Yesterday Malcolm Tait and I took some pictures of a gorgeous pair of birds to brighten your Monday!

A time will come when you will do everything correctly, as you were taught to do, as you were meant to do, but things will still fall apart. In that moment, the natural feelings are shock, confusion, maybe anger, and that’s okay. But don’t despair. This is medicine. And life.
