I stopped engaging in gender related arguments when I realized that you cannot fully understand the extent of the struggles of the gender that you’re not. A man cannot tell a woman what it is like to be a woman, vice versa.

My body didn’t snap back; It moved forward into mothering 3 children. There is no “snapback body” after bringing a whole human into the world, but there is mothering, evolving, and learning to honor a body that has done something extraordinary at every stage.

No doctor contributed anything meaningful to the discourse, not even to discuss the health impact of pregnancy on a woman and her husband. But the moment women began sharing tips on what helped them during pregnancy, they showed up in numbers not to educate but to clown.

After marriage, a woman’s entire life seems to revolve around how supportive her husband is. I have never seen a man sceptical about his future after marriage, wondering what if my wife won’t support me. He plans his life the same way before and after marriage.

It has been an amazing week of observer-ship with the Gynaecologic Oncology team at Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town this week. Seeing healthcare delivery in another part of the world was truly mind-opening. Grateful to the team for their warm welcome and hospitality.
