Today was a very special day - vargas-pi, one of my very first lab members, gave her very last lab meeting. Her parents joined and cooked a phenomenal meal for the whole team. I could not be more proud of Alex as she starts her next phase- MD/PhD 🤩🥹🎉

Such a fun and exciting week in Phoenix for #SAEM24 Thank you to the amazing MSA program for the opportunity to meet incredible people, from fellow med students to field legends. Can’t wait to return in costume for dodgeball and SONOgames! @saemonline @saem_rams

Here we are, the new Pitt/CMU MSTP cohort! We call ourselves the “House of Steinman.” Why? Because we are a family, of course! We’re a pretty great bunch: collegially, friendly, and collaborative. What more can your ask for from a science family. #Pitt #H2P #pittmed #doubledoc

Today in nature-- Monell Center researchers, led by AmberAlhadeff, share new findings that point towards a possible way to reduce adverse side effects of popular next-generation obesity medications like GLP1-based drugs, known as semaglutide and marketed as Ozempic® and Wegovy®

Drugs like Ozempic are great for weight loss, but they make some people feel sick. We discovered that the brain circuits mediating the appetite suppression are distinct from those that mediate nausea – a finding that may be leveraged to develop more selective GLP1-based drugs.
