Pensions were always exempt from inheritance tax if you died before retirement. Not anymore. Now your grieving family gets a tax bill.

The government don’t want you to be aspirational or ambitious. - Growing a business - Hiring staff - Paying for your kids’ education, - Saving for your retirement. All getting more and more difficult.

Not long ago dividend tax was mostly paid by wealthy investors with large portfolios. Now 3.7 million ordinary investors have to pay it. This is double the number recorded just two years earlier It’s getting harder to get ahead.

Just had a review meeting with our accountants. They reminded me that, from April next year, Inheritance Tax will be payable on the value of my private, family owned business if I die. Millions of SME owners are facing the same issue. This does not support growth/ambition.

Prices rise much faster in industries run by government (healthcare, education). Prices actually fall in industries run by private sector (technology, software). It’s easy to be inefficient when you’re spending other people’s money.

These policies are drafted on spreadsheets and completely ignore human behaviour.
