How do dietary glucose and fat signal to the brain to alter feeding behavior? Revisit this exciting paper from AmberAlhadeff's Lab to find out! #gutbrainaxis #diet #macros #CellMet1YearAgo #OpenAccess Monell Center

Today in nature-- Monell Center researchers, led by AmberAlhadeff, share new findings that point towards a possible way to reduce adverse side effects of popular next-generation obesity medications like GLP1-based drugs, known as semaglutide and marketed as Ozempic® and Wegovy®

One major side effect of Ozempic (and related drugs) is nausea, to the point where it is not clear whether nausea itself contributes to the weight loss. AmberAlhadeff's group used an elegant approach to identify largely dissociable circuits for nausea and weight loss.
