It's pretty funny there is drama around which competing ML products are the best, but they're all from the same company. 5090 vs PRO 6000 vs spark. Nobody even hinted at a non-nvidia product being relevant.

Very proud of the hardware team at comma for making this beautiful thing. Years ago we were shipping great software with almost embarrassing hardware. Over the years it got better, but with the comma 4, the hardware is at least as good as the software.

With the comma 4 release, we've leveled up again in intelligence per cubic centimeter. We don't ship the most capable self-driving system, but comma is #1 at shipping you useful capability in a tiny package.

The CTF Yassine Yousfi made for this event is super fun! I had a good time doing it for free, but you guys can win prizes! Even if you don't want to come to the event you can win $750 cash or win a comma 4.

Finally a household robot announcement with no legs! Humanoid "legs" are expensive, harder to control, use more power, and if there's any kind of failure you have a block of metal falling over in your house. The first successful household robots certainly won't have legs.

Our map-viewer was down for a year, because everyone was too lazy to fix it. But someone finally did and we have users in so many new places! Kyrgyzstan, Oman, Cyprus, Vietnam, Senegal, Tenerife, Hawaii, Chile, Tasmania. openpilot is everywhere! We're going global.

Pretty dystopian that having communication protocols work between different brands "feels illegal". Locking down communication protocols for your brand is what should be illegal.

Writing fast python code is so satisfying. People have been gaslit into thinking python is slow. But modern computers are so fast and modern software so complex, that python overhead is rarely relevant. The slowness people experience in python is just poorly written libraries.

Google search is so evil. Even with full-screen on a desktop, the whole screen is sponsored results. When searching for a specific brand you only see results for competitors. They want to show you anything except what you wanted to find. Evil.

That's right! comma has been around for ~10 years, and we've somehow managed to stay free of the toxic influence of VCs and big corps. We're still just a bunch of engineers making things we think are cool, and hopefully you too.

"The cooling in these datacenters is incredibly complicated, the HVAC, CDUs, the liquid cooling. In space cooling is free" Am I missing something or is this just completely wrong? Even with space radiators you still need cooling loops to the radiators. Isn't the only difference

In the last few months I've found coding agents have gotten good enough to help write production-level code. I'm not a doomer, but when an LLM spits out code I can't find any issues with, I can't help but feel a little scared.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve read all morning. “Turn off all the lasers - lidar fails - vision cameras keep working” Headlights are as much part of a vision system as lasers are of lidar.

I'm heading to China for the first time. As a casual enjoyer of Chinese propaganda, I’m excited to see what all the fuss is about.

Taking your kid to China is like going to Santa’s workshop to see where all the toys are made. Except instead of a workshop full of elves, it’s just a better run society.

In California one of these buildings being built would be an event. In China they’re just a few of thousands in a city you’ve never heard of. The scale of construction here is staggering.
