2022 marks the 15th anniversary of the CONCEPT series! Since its launch in 2007, our informal and intimate salon series has included 82 performances at 4 locations (including online!) and showcased the work of a whopping 134 guest artists. Photos by RJ Muna and Margo Mortiz

The CONCEPT series encourages choreographers to share work at any stage of the creation process, including testing a work-in-progress. Many RAWdance works have begun here — let’s reflect on some! First up: “Mine”, previewed at the CONCEPT series: 14 & premiered shortly after.

Wendy Rein & Ryan T. Smith’s ambitious "Double Exposure" project appeared as excerpts-in-progress at a couple of CONCEPT series, the 1st of which was the CONCEPT series: 17 in 2015. Enjoy this look back at them dancing choreo by Kate Wallich with music by Johnny Goss at CS17!

✨📽️“Art Is Guarantee of Sanity” at the CONCEPT series: 19! While this work was eventually premiered by St. Louis’ MADCO in 2017, choreographers Wendy Rein & Ryan T. Smith 1st tested ideas for it on dancers Katerina Wong & Carly Johnson at the CONCEPT series one year prior.

Another CONCEPT #throwback! This time featuring Katerina Wong's "14" at the CONCEPT series: 24 in 2018, 1 year before the finished work's premiere. "14" marked the 150th anniversary of the ratification of the U.S. Constitution’s #14thamendment. Learn more: rawdance.org/works/14

Our final CONCEPT #throwback: "Backbone" by Katerina Wong! Crafted in collaboration with artist Sawyer Rose, "Backbone" appeared at the CONCEPT series: 26 in 2019, mere days before the finishing touches were applied for its full premiere! Learn more: rawdance.org/works/backbone
