When you let loose a wildlife ecologist amidst urban sociologists = laugh riot! It was fun to spend time with Dr. Predrag Lažetić & my friend-cum-colleage Dr. Snidgha Vishnoi, discussing urbanity, work cultures and Humanimal cultures (@PawsWeb) in Delhi.
Explore the beauty in human wisdom, Homo sapiens, to coexist with other life forms. Join PAWS Web sessions to discuss the magic and challenges of fostering understanding & compassion for non-kins in modern urbanity. Email us at [email protected] #Coexistence #urban #ecology
It’s amazing how many empirical features of interactions and collective response can emerge from a simple imperative: to minimize surprise. Out today in PNAS PNASNews - with Conor Heins Richard Mann Karl Friston and colleagues! Centre for the Adv Study of Collective Behaviour Max Planck Society pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
400 years of progress, yet we lean on nature & our (poor) peers to manage waste. Amidst concerns of disease & pollution, let’s not forget unsung waste champs: workers/animals. Integral to our urban ecosystems, their services deserve consideration #WasteManagement #UrbanEcosystems
Excited to see what PAWS Web Sustainability Research Foundation Black Kite Project 🇮🇳(WII)🇪🇸(CSIC)🇬🇧(Oxford) Nishant Kumar are working on
My recent write up. Penning this reflection was so refreshing.

Great to touch base @ Bhalswa after 1.5 yrs. Learnt more about these quasi-ecosystems with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi Urban Env & Dev/Adv. Population Ecol JGU ppl. Such social-ecological relationships are ephemeral, based on years of neglect & othering that creates humanimal guilds
As part of my elective, Urban Natures, I took my students for a field visit to the Bhalswa landfill. We had such enriching discussions about materials, spaces, caste, religion, ecology. Thanks to Nishant Kumar for giving us such an eye opening account about waste ecologies in Delhi
Presented my first ever poster at the The Royal Society conference on age and sociality this week and immensely enjoyed 2 days of really cool research and chatting with even cooler people 🤩
Massive thanks to the organisers for such an enlightening meeting ✨
