If you are going to ASLO 2023 in Mallorca, and aren't sure where to submit your abstract about DOM analysis, look no further than SS111! Dr. Stacey Felgate

This image from today's IPCC synthesis report is brutal. The existing policy trajectory represents a profound failure of our governments, and of our international political system. We need much more aggressive mitigation and much stronger international cooperation.

We have a postdoctoral stipend available in my lab for 1 year, applications welcome as long as you will have a PhD by the end of April and if your PhD is not from Uppsala University!

One thing I wish they taught more explicitly in school is the way we see the colors we do *because* they’re the brightest wavelengths emitted from our star. This understanding was a huge epiphany for me in terms of appreciating our place in the Universe. wtamu.edu/~cbaird/sq/mob…

I gave some talks this week that seemed to go down really well, so I thought to share some key messages about climate change, last week’s IPCC report, and scientists as activists.🧵1/n

BREAKING: The meat industry lobbied to have the IPCC remove their recommendation of a plant-based diet to cut 50% of greenhouse gas emissions, according to a leaked draft of an earlier report.

As floods & fires rise, oceans boil & ice melts, and "safe" temperatures are breached, something momentous just happened in the heart of the EU. No one has heard about it: journalists were present, but their editors refused to publish 🤯. 🧵, please RT. #BeyondGrowth2023 1/

We have a new paper out in ES&T, another great collaboration with Lars Tranvik’s lab! We found that: Hydrophilic compounds degrade first, and they are difficult to extract and analyse with MS. MS is better suited to RDOM! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

This graph illustrates why high-income countries need to reduce emissions much faster than lower-income countries, if the remaining carbon budget is going to be divided equitably (i.e., the area under the curve should be the same).
