Believe it or not, these bears don’t get their name from their love of the sun or their sunny disposition. Instead, Sun bears are named for the crescent-shaped orange patch on their chest that resembles the rising sun! ☀️

Happy Earth Day! 🌍️Striped Newts are a type of salamander with a small native range in southern Georgia and northern Florida. Here at ZooTampa, we have been helping by participating in the Coastal Plains Institute striped newt release in Apalachicola National Forest wetlands!

Meet Johnny, the Copperhead!🐍

Copperheads are a species of venomous snake native to the Eastern United States. These snakes are widely misunderstood, but they are naturally shy and rarely attack humans. 💥

Spring baby season continues at the zoo with the arrival of Inca tern chicks! 🐣

Inca terns Mario and Daisy are the proud parents to two beautiful chicks, each between a week to two weeks old. 🌼

Inca tern parents will work diligently together to feed and raise their young.

Our Malayan tapir calf has finally received her name! We are pleased to introduce Munah, meaning “favored by destiny.” ✨

At two weeks old, Munah gets the zoomies often and continues to bond with her mom, Ubi.
