"A vote is a kind of prayer for the world we desire for ourselves and for our children." This is so beautifully and accurately put by Senator Warnock. #aspirationalpolitics

What does political realism have to say about AI? I've no idea, but in this intriguing piece Michele Murgia argues that we should overcome the applied ethics approach, and use realism to properly politicise AI: link.springer.com/article/10.100…

A potential Wellmanian defense of extremely profitable publishers: maybe it's our Samaritan duty to work for them for free because they provide indispensable services to all of us and it can be justified in fair play terms who should review and how many manuscripts.

I was contacted by a student from another country because ChatGPT mentioned me as an author of texts about the Spanish civil war which I'm not. My answer was a great opportunity for me to use the term halucination in a possibly proper context.

Winter is coming for Dutch universities. The upcoming budget cuts not only threaten the future of our profession but also risk stifling the production of scientific knowledge essential to democracy. Ingrid Robeyns @[email protected] has written on how to resist the cuts. crookedtimber.org/2024/09/06/act…

"Constructivism's fact-infested principles of justice" is the unnecessarily mean critical comment of the day. Say whatever you want, analytic political philosophy would be much less fun without these malicious little remarks.

Neither a Marxist nor a Cohen expert, I find GA Cohen deep down the least Marxist socialist I could imagine. A Platonist analytic philosopher versus an Aristotelian economist/revolutionist.
