Ethereum will do same thing because storing all its history takes up a ton of space.

Normally, every computer on the network (called a node) has to store everything that's on Ethereum. This can get massive, like upto 1TB

To tackle this concern , vitalik.eth proposed EIP-4444 - solution known as node pruning.

This will allow nodes to ditch the old stuff, making it easier for more people to run nodes and participate in the network and enhance the scalability.
