Lovely mixed nautical metaphor on Sky Sports News just then: “Manchester United have some steam in their sails.” Are they ironing them?

I think there's a hysteria around Arsenal's set-pieces which is playing into their hands. I'm not actually sure we're seeing anything revolutionary, but teams *think* its something novel and are losing the psychological battle.

Chelsea and Newcastle's contrasting approaches a good reminder that formations are not inherently offensive or defensive.

An important mix of physicality and technical assurance in some of the absentees that was missed, but Arsenal lucky not to lose that and the game management and decision-making after scoring was dreadful.

It’s the same reason many Arsenal fans supported City in title races vs Liverpool; because anything City win can be written off, compartmentalised and doesn’t shine a light on your own failings. It has nothing to do with hifalutin posery about Arteta and his football.

Newcastle either look incredibly easy to play against, or incredibly difficult. No middle ground. That’s man-to-man pressing, I suppose.
