Today marks the 109th anniversary of the destruction of Zeppelin L.31 shot down over Potters Bar by 2/Lt. Wulstan J Tempest. Due to this loss of Kapitanleutnant Heinrich Mathy (& his crew) the German Naval Air Service had lost one its greatest Zeppelin commanders. Ian Castle

2 Dec 1898, Lt Indra Lal Roy, RAF, born. Sole Indian #WW1 flying ace with 10 aerial victories in 13 days! Born Calcutta. Educated St Paul's School. First Indian to get DFC. Died, aged 19. Buried Estevelles Communal Cemetery. Personal inscription, ‘he died for the ideals he loved’.
