DCG Manetswa C Manhivi recently attended the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) Africa Region Training Conference held in Nigeria under the theme “Addressing Africa’s Security Challenges and Safety through Collaboration and Inclusivity”.

Comm-Gen Dr MCN Chihobvu is hosting Comm-Gen Raphael T Hamunyela of Namibia Correctional Service who is on a visit to sign a plan of action between the two entities on cooperation in areas such as rehabilitation, reintegration, food production, training and security.

In an endeavour to operationalize their plan of action with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, the Namibia Correctional Service Commissioner-General Raphael T. Hamunyela visited and toured Connemara Open Correctional Institution.

In a development that will go a long way in reinforcing the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of inmates, ZPCS and Impact Sungano Records signed a MoU on the production and recording of inmates’ music using a mobile recording studio that is set to cover all stations.

As provided for by Sec 71 of the Prisons and Correctional Service Act (CAP 7:21), ZPCS has amongst its population children living with their mothers who are imprisoned. ZPCS is committed to providing a safe & supportive environment for everyone in its care, including children.

In a move towards reform & modernization, ZPCS has adopted a new organizational culture based on Productivity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship. This significant shift was announced by Comm-Gen Dr. MCN Chihobvu at a 1-day Organizational Culture Workshop held in Harare.

ZPCS is continuing with its operationalization of the new Prisons and Correctional Act by adopting the concept of commercialized rehabilitation through setting up a Community Correctional Centre in Mt Hampden where inmates will be accommodated while employed by Willdale Bricks.
