Flash floods in Gudyanga have caused severe siltation threatening the productivity of the irrigation scheme. The Zimbabwe Idai Recovery Project (ZIRP) has constructed the largest gabion wall in Zimbabwe to protect the scheme.

Great visit to #Chimanimani to see firsthand how #WorldBank financing is supporting cyclone affected communities. Impressive rehabilitation by the The Zimbabwe Idai Recovery Project (ZIRP) of Gudyanga irrigation scheme, including solar power, to enhance agricultural productivity of 48 hectares.
Its exciting to showcase the work we are doing under in cyclone affected communities to Nathan Belete the World Bank country director and his team. The team was really impressed by the work being done to restore agricultural productivity at Gudyanga irrigation scheme.
In order to make The Zimbabwe Idai Recovery Project (ZIRP) irrigation schemes more resilient, #flexible and #strong gabion walls have been constructed. These will highly protect the environment as they allow water to flow through while retaining structure and shielding soil from being washed away.

At Mutambara, the incinerator chimney stack is now in place. Its height safely disperses gases over a wide area.
The incinerator, built under ZIRP, is absolutely essential in securely neutralising medical waste.
