@zgroupUL 💕sql nets (X-sql-1-Cu) + 💕flexibility + 💕polymorphism, all of which reported in our latest paper in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
In this case, polymorphism was found to impact Pgo
Many congrats to 1st author Aizhamal Subanbekova + collaborators Materials & Catalysis Modelling Group, StefanKaskel
Mike Zaworotko group is delighted to welcome the world's newest chemistry PhD Kyriaki Koupepidou (aka 'KK') who was masterful during her viva earlier today.
Thanks to Patricia Horcajada BMOFs (external), Teresa Curtin (internal) and Jen Cookman (chair) for their service.
Bon voyage KK!
The flexible sorbent team from @zgroupul presented on design and properties ar CELTIC2024. It was great that Varia could see the fruits of her mentorship of Aizhamal Subanbekova and Kyriaki Koupepidou. Fang Han (Nankai University) also presented on his promising new sorbent.
Day 2 of CELTIC2024 started with lectures by Lauren Macreadie (UNSW) and Yao Chen (Nankai University) who talked about flexible MOFs and immobilization of biomoleules, respectively.
Right now our carbon footprint is rather high but our collective end goals are to be carbon negative.
A great start to CELTIC2024 in Galway with a lecture from former Mike Zaworotko group member Zhenjie Zhang (aka 'ZZ') of Nankai University.
ZZ talked about developing new flux synthesis methods to synthesise new families of COFs with exciting properties.
@zgroupul is pleased to introduce Dr. Yassin, Yassin H. Andaloussi, its second baby PhD today.
Yassin is the new crystal engineering 👑
Many thanks to external Michael Katz and internal Matthias Vandichel of Materials & Catalysis Modelling Group for 3.75 hr of 'discussion'.
Outstanding job Yassin!
@ZGROUPUL welcomes the World's newest PhD, Aizhamal Subanbekova🇹🇳, who defended her viva on flexible sorbents today. 🙏 to external examiner Lauren Macreadie🇦🇺who sets a new record for miles travelled for a viva.
Bonne chance et bon voyage Jama!
@zgroupul + Soumya Mukherjee delighted to host Dr Andrea Laybourn @andrealaybourn.bsky.social for the Bernal Institute seminar during which she convinced us that flow chemistry offers opportunities for more efficient MOF
Andrea was later welcomed in the traditional manner on her first visit to Ireland.
sql networks switch again as reported by @zgroupul in Crystal Growth & Design / ACS:
pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
A copper sulfate dimer MBB + flexible ligands (bib and bin) enable phase change and C2H2 selectivity.

Day 3 of #scienceweek2024 on the amazing campus of UM6P - Mohammed VI Polytechnic University and @zgroupul gets to see a demonstration sorbent based desalination system built by Mohamed Ouikhalfam. Surely the right time and place to develop this potentially disruptive technology.
Admiring a working passive DAC machine at UM6P - Mohammed VI Polytechnic University with Youssef Belmabkhout Prof.Belmabkhout's group (CPE3) , his group member Ismail Filahi, + kyle cordova at #scienceweek2024
@zgroupul is honored to join #scienceweek2024 on the spectacular Benguerir campus of UM6P - Mohammed VI Polytechnic University
Looking forward to the wide scope of this meeting themed upon transitions from multiple perspectives including energy.
SKID row - an OK place to be when it comes to isotherm determination as reported in Chem:

Diamondoid nets - a gift that keeps on giving since 1993. Inverse C2H6/C2H4 selectivity reported by @zgroupUL + collaborators S. Kitagawa Group🇯🇵 🖥🧪Brian Space 🪐🌌🇺🇸+ 'Q', Qingyuan Yang🇨🇳 in J. Am. Chem. Soc. pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…
🙏🏻 Science Foundation Ireland for seeding our work on developing 'X-ligands'
Structure/properties of GEFSIX-21-Cu detailed in latest Mike Zaworotko group report on ultramicroporous sorbents, now in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces:
pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.102…
High C2H2/CO2 selectivity, unlike the CO2 selective SIFSIX-18-Ni variant.
