BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: The Toronto Youth Cabinet will be giving away over 1,500 books to the Toronto District School Board for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. This is in recognition of #WorldBookDay on April 23. We’re glad to collaborate with Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement on this!

This is part of a larger giveaway to Toronto schools with the target of providing 4K books to students across Toronto by the end of this yr. This large scale literacy initiative is intended to encourage reading for young children, by providing them with culturally relevant books.

We know the importance of reading and how representation in books can improve Black children’s literacy rates, and promote cultural competency in all children. Every child has the right to read and access books that mirror their experiences.
