SC/ST reservation was given as a result of the Poona Pact to those deemed “untouchables”. It had no class basis or sub categorization because one caste didn’t experience “more untouchability” than others. Worried about “Poor Dalits” ?i Include them preferentially in EWS quota.

The racism we're witnessing in the Olympics and the genocide we're witnessing in Gaza are not two separate things. It's white supremacy on full display.

Lost count of the number of publications I pitched pieces about examining the role of caste & got told this wasn’t the ‘right angle’. The blatant refusal to acknowledge caste given that KH could well be first the SA president is astounding. But hey, let’s not ruin the vibes 👉🏽👈🏽

Propagating the same sad narrative of merit while letting no analysis of caste to come through. Not a single piece on KH ancestry and backgrounds even acknowledges caste and how it has influenced her upbringing. Coming from @motherjones of all places, it’s quite distressing

Absolutely wild to hear that Yashica - such an important voice on Dalit issues today - has been repeatedly turned down in discussions of caste in the US election. As khadijah said, this reflects an issue of caste politics within Anerican media.
