What does the CEO of a startup do? Spends 40% of time on top 3 priorities. Spends 40% of time on CEO jobs: recruiting, strategy, culture, leadership, brand ambassador, capital allocation, public relations. Spends 20% of time on everything else. That's about it.

Steve Jobs once quoted as saying “the most powerful person in the world is the storyteller.” Brand and storytelling is what makes startups successful, not features and confusing buzzwords.

To scale your startup you have to hire amazing people that are way smarter than you and give them full trust, support, care, and autonomy.

Just get these things right when building a startup to increase your odds of success: 1. Solve a painful problem 2. Delegate things you suck at 3. Focus on speed of execution 4. Learn sales and marketing 5. Find a mentor or coach 6. Raise $500M+ seed round Pretty simple.

Most successful startup founders don't whine, complain, make excuses, blame people or things out of their control, they just get shit done.

I'm 36. This is my honest advice for people in their 20s: 1. Make decisions your future self will thank you for, not resent you for. 2. Somebody you know and love is going to die within the next 10 years. It could even be you. So live accordingly.

After your startup finds product market fit and has paying customers please hire people smarter than you and delegate as soon as possible.

Steve Jobs was once quoted as saying "Half of what separates successful entrepreneurs from non-successful ones is pure perseverance." So keep pushing through the bad times, enjoy the good times, always be learning, celebrate every win, improve daily, and play the long game.

If you’re able to bootstrap your startup and get acquired for “just a few million” you’re pretty set for life unless you need a yacht.

My recommended path for entrepreneurs... 1st company - build profitable agency around your skillsets to learn 2nd company - invest revenue from agency to bootstrap a sellable asset like a profitable SaaS startup 3rd company - swing for the fences like Google or acquire.com
