Thank you to Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce for the opportunity to speak to local business leaders. I spoke with members about our priorities for York and North Yorkshire and how Harrogate will benefit as we work together to create vibrant and sustainable places building on Harrogate’s strengths.

It was a great to attend the York and North Yorkshire Leadership Group with West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce this week. Engaging with business leaders is vital to support the development of Local Growth Plans, helping to drive economic growth in things such as our High Streets and visitor economy.

It was fantastic to open a new distribution centre for Adtran in a sun-soaked York. This new facility not only aligns with our net zero objectives, but also help us to improve limited digital connectivity, particularly among our rural communities.

We really enjoyed giving a delegation of Polish biotech companies a big York and North Yorkshire welcome yesterday. Our region leads the way in this sector, and we are home to a wealth of research, development assets and much more. 🔗 Read more: hubs.ly/Q02QsJ230

Thank you to Alexander Dennis for providing a tour at their fantastic facilities in Scarborough yesterday alongside the local MP Alison Hume MP to listen to their challenges and work with them, so the company can thrive and continue to grow in York and North Yorkshire.

It was great to meet with principals from around the region today, to hear from them and talk through our skills agenda - which includes the Adult Skills Fund and a forthcoming skills innovation fund. Thanks to Askham Bryan College College for hosting and a tour of the campus.
