"We should make missing middle housing easier to build... It is also simply the right thing to do—everyone needs to do their fair share to build a sustainable, equitable, and healthy future." INDY Week OP-Ed by NC State College of Design professor Thomas Barrie indyweek.com/news/opinions/…

Removing the words “single-family” from your zoning code does not, in fact, make zoning any less exclusionary. You actually have to *allow* other types of homes.

The very fact that there are “housing advocates” or “YIMBYs” is a symptom of a very deep problem. Something so universal and basic should not require this level of advocacy or particular identification. That, at bottom, is our housing problem.

The triangleblogblog liveblog of Chapel HIll's #housing debate is pretty interesting: There seems to be fewer young people. So many of the comments are "I want my kids to be able to afford to live here", which is not a pro-housing testimony you hear a lot. triangleblogblog.com/2023/05/24/liv…

fun fact the “International” Building Code is hardly that. it was devised by american architects arrogantly assuming everyone globally would adopt it they took one look and said no thanks. thats why europe builds great apartments and we don’t more dragging of the IBC!
