This week, YFNED partnered with Youth Moving Mountains to provide a hands-on introduction to woodworking and carpentry for youth at Yukon University. Led by local red seal carpenter Olivier Roy-Jauvin, camp participants learned how to use specialized tools and gain skills.

Last week our nutrition program cooks from across the territory gathered in Dawson for three days of cultural education and culinary development. We are grateful for the opportunity to gather and learn on the Traditional Territory of the Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin. Thank you to all!

As we head into the last weekend before the start of school for many of you (and your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, friends, cousins, etc.), just wanted to share a few more photos from the summer. Most of them are from the Teslin River Drift.

Our Indigenous parent workshop series is back for another year at Early Years Whitehorse. For expecting parents and parents of kids aged 0-5, the sessions focus on the skills found in YFNED's Early Years holistic approach to parenting. To sign up: [email protected]

Before classes got underway, our staff got together on the land to learn some skills and to enjoy each other's company before we go out to different schools and communities.

I know our minds are now on the first week of school but just wanted to share a few more photos from the summer - specifically horse camp and fishing camp.

In August, our MTU team visited Ross River to lead a literacy camp! We celebrated theme days and had loads of fun with different activities around each theme-- with books to bring it all together. For more information about our programming, go to yfned.ca/mtu

Indigenous magic act, Magician and Muse, are coming to the Yukon, sponsored by YFNED, FNSB and CYFN. In addition to doing a tour of schools, they are offering 3 free public performances for Indigenous families in Whitehorse (Sep 29), Beaver Creek (Oct 1) and Watson Lake (Oct 5).
