My #summerproject! This #summer, I took a break from #writing to focus on one wing of the house—#newfloors, #freshpaint. I tried to shape the space in a way that mirrors how I craft a #story: balanced, simple, and clear. One #chapter complete. Now, I’m back at the #keyboard.

Had the joy of meeting my editor & the #PublishingDirector at #ChronicleBooks! We celebrated #BuddhaJumpsOvertheWall over lunch in #SF, then toured where the magic happens. Behind every book is a team quietly encouraging creative sparks to grow I’m so lucky to have them!

Made a colorful #beetsalad—fresh beets topped with nuts and cheese—and brought a #treslechescake. After the fun, I turned to my go-to reset: #blackcod simmered with #ginger, #redwalnuts, #gojiberries, and #dates—then added #bokchoy & #shiitakes for a hearty, healing stew. 🐟🌿

Look what I found during my remodel—#drafts of my #novels, each one became an #awardwinner, and one was optioned for film. I can’t seem to part with them. Has anyone found a meaningful way to repurpose old #manuscripts? Would a #library, archive, or writing program be interested?

A Chinese cookbook graphic novel that taught me a lot about my own culture. Ying Compestine has such a great writing style that easily connects to her readers in playful ways. It was so fun for me to just let loose with my art on this book and I still love showing it off today.
