With our rivers once more riding high in UK politics, I'm reminded again of this brilliant Grasshopper Geography map. A way of re-centring rivers in land and mind. Everyone lives in a watershed.

This study casts light on forested stream food webs in the tropics - the figure below references the trivariate approach first described by Cohen et al. (2003) for Tuesday Lake: the food web, average body sizes (here trophic level), and numerical abundance besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/13…

#LoughNeagh research had its heyday in the mid-1970s to 2006. Since 2001 (14 papers) there has been an 86% decline in papers/yr and a 56% decrease in citations of all Lough Neagh publications since 2021 = Not much interest these days. 😪 #BlueGreenAlgae 🦠⚰️🕯️ Tommy Greene

This is bonkers. Just a few days ago Altnaharra was -19°C. Today it’s 13°C. Not only that, the Moray coast is currently the warmest spot in the whole of Europe, easily eclipsing Greece, Italy, and Spain.
