Knowledge only turns into your skill when you can do it subconsciously. When you have to consciously think about it to do it you’re sacrificing your observation in order to do it. Knowledge is still the first step to learning the new skill.

In order to be good at strategy games you need to play unfair. Attack enemy when they're distracted. Attack enemy when you have more heroes. Attack enemies when you have more HP. Pick strong heroes. If you try to brute force and play honorable you're going to struggle.

One of the most important skills in dota is the ability to see when to go in for kills and plays. Easiest way to get kills is playing together as stun/damage combo and burst heroes in stuns. If this isn't possible try to wait for enemy to cast spell poorly before committing.

Learning to cast spells from the maxi range instead of the 300 range away from the enemy will make you die way less and lead to more success. The goal after casting spells is to wait for spell CDs.

A common gamelosing mistake people make is they join a losing fight instead of free-farming. You need to learn how to see if a fight is bad and you shouldn't join and instead farm your timings. Joining a bad fight and dying instead of free-farming is extremely game-losing.

Right-clicking the enemy constantly on lane as a ranged hero can win you the lane. But be careful about not going out of position, if you are out of position the enemy can quickly 2v1 and kill you. Rightclick enemy enough so they run away but don't chase. Combine 2v1 to kill.
